SAVE OUR SHOPPES ON SAND KEY

The Shoppes on Sand Key are a major contributor to the quality of life of Sand Key residents.  From shopping to banking to restaurant to personal services, these local businesses provide a convenient social setting and reduce driving for all who reside and visit here. These shops are important to our entire community.

All this could be destroyed.  The Community Development Board meets on

on February 19, 2008 1:00p.m, City Hall, Third Floor, 112 S.

Osceola Avenue, Clearwater to discuss the rezoning of the property to

Tourist zoning which would allow a hotel of 100 feet in height and at

least 290 hotel rooms.

We, the citizens and visitors of Sand key, have an obligation to protect community from this pointless, unnecessary construction. We do not need more hotel rooms on Sand Key. We do not need more noise, traffic, water consumption, storm water runoff in this low lying area, congestion or polluting the natural environment. Let's keep Sand Key residential.  Most importantly, we do not need to have to make numerous trips off the island to duplicate all the services and retail offered by the Shoppes on Sand Key

I urge the Community Development Board to DENY any change in zoning and I endorse keeping the Shoppes on Sand Key.
