On April 17, 2008, Mayor Hibbard and City Council will vote on increasing the hotel room density for the City of Clearwater that would allow up to 125 hotel rooms per acre on property zoned Tourist and Commercial in the City of Clearwater. This could result in more than an additional 1500 hotel rooms built on Sand Key. These hotel rooms could be added to the Marriott, Sheraton,

Shoppes of Sand Key properties. Legg Mason is pushing the City to approve this increase in the number of rooms allowed per acre.  If approved, Legg Mason may submit plans to build a 66 room hotel at the Cabana Club Restaurant site, 1590 Gulf Blvd.

I strongly oppose the Mayor and City Council approving an increase in hotel rooms on Sand Key at the:
